Our Personal Lawyers Fees

Our Fees

No win, no fee

If we assess you’ve been wronged and have a right to compensation from an insurer, such as in a motor vehicle claim or at common law (e.g. a shopping centre fall), we’ll back you with a no win, no fee retainer. This means we don’t get paid until you do. The way we determine the amount is by hourly rates.

Fixed fees

If you prefer certainty, we will set a fixed fee to achieve a specific outcome. This means we do not use hourly rates. The fee is usually payable upon commencement of your matter.

Price list

We dislike hourly rates as much as you do.

Wherever we can, we offer you fixed fees.

That means we do not charge you when we pick up the phone or send an email.

We are big on long term relationships with our clients and we measure the value of our services largely by whether you come back.

FAQs

If the firm assesses that you have been wronged and have a right to compensation from an insurer, such as in a motor vehicle accident claim or a shopping centre fall, they may offer a no win, no fee retainer. This means professional legal fees are only payable when you receive compensation, calculated by reference to hourly rates.

Pace Adelaide Legal offers fixed fees for many personal law matters, including property settlements, consent orders, divorce applications, powers of attorney, advance care directives, wills, probate and certain civil claims. Fixed fees are usually payable at the commencement of your matter to achieve an agreed outcome.

The firm prefers fixed fees wherever possible to give clients cost certainty and to avoid charging every time a phone call is taken or an email is sent. They focus on long term relationships and measure value partly by whether clients choose to return in future, rather than by time spent alone.

Unless otherwise stated, fixed pricing is exclusive of GST and external disbursements. Disbursements such as court filing fees, search fees, postage and other third party charges are generally added at actual cost in addition to the professional fees for legal work.

The firm charges separate administrative service fees, including an opening file fee that varies depending on the value of the matter, plus charges for postage, courier services, colour and black and white printing, scanning and other external disbursements. These administrative charges are billed at set rates, exclusive of GST.

If you choose to pay by EFTPOS and the fees on your EFTPOS transactions exceed a set amount on any one matter in any one month, the firm may charge you for those merchant fees, in addition to the professional and administrative charges already outlined.

The price list on the personal lawyers fees page provides a guide to common fixed fee amounts, but every matter is different. To obtain an estimate tailored to your situation, you should contact the firm to discuss your needs so they can confirm whether a fixed fee, no win no fee or hourly rate arrangement is most appropriate.
