Q: When is the right time to start thinking about a Will? A: Right now!
Although thinking about your death is an uncomfortable thought, if you do not not have a valid Will at the time of your death you have no influence over the future allocation of your property or the guardianship of your children.
Without a Will, the Administration and Probate Act 1919 (SA) determines how and to whom your property will be distributed. This distribution may not be in the way that you would have chosen and may result in people who you care about not being included.
Events such as marriage and divorce can invalidate a Will. It is important to update your Will regularly and to speak to a solicitor if you believe your Will may be invalid.
